Intelligent document processing (IDP)

What is intelligent document processing (IDP)?

Intelligent document processing, or IDP, is software that turns documents into structured data. It builds on OCR, which converts a page into text, and adds templates or machine-learning models that find and label fields, such as a PO number, a date or a line total, often with a confidence value for each.

IDP is a broad category, used for invoices, forms and claims as well as orders. Its output is fields: what those fields mean for your business, such as which of your products a line refers to, is usually left to the next step.

Why it matters

For customer orders, reading the fields is half the job. The other half is matching each line to your catalogue, converting units and pack sizes and applying the right price list, and that is where an order desk's time goes.

How Weeva handles it

Weeva reads each order into a fixed header and line shape with a confidence score per field, then matches the buyer and every line, calibrates units and packs, prices from that customer's list and posts the sales order to your ERP, with uncertain fields sent to a person first.

Sales Order AutomationCustomer orders in any format, posted to your ERP as clean sales orders.

Pick a time that suits you. Bring three sample orders, including one your team finds awkward, and we'll run them through extraction and catalogue matching live. No obligation.
