PACKAGING

Pack multiples and contract call-offs, captured against the right SKU.

Packaging orders arrive as call-offs against contracts, described by dimensions and gauge, in pack multiples that must be respected. Weeva matches each description to the right SKU, checks the multiples and posts the order to your ERP.

Illustrative example: a fictional purchase order from Aloes Valley Foods, matched to the catalogue.

What does order automation look like for packaging?

Order automation for a packaging supplier reads call-off orders against customer contracts, matches dimensional descriptions such as box sizes, wall types and film gauges to the right SKU, checks that quantities respect pack multiples, applies the contract price, and creates the sales order in the ERP without re-typing.

    A call-off arrives by email.

Aloes Valley Foods emails call-off 38 against its contract at 07:26: boxes, stretch film by the roll, tape and dividers.

    Weeva matches and checks multiples.

Boxes match by dimensions and wall type and convert to bundles of 25 at the contract price. 1 030 dividers is not a multiple of 50, so the line waits for a person.

The sales order posts to Katana.

Thandeka Mokoena confirms 21 packs of dividers at 08:02 and the call-off syncs against the contract reference.

Receiving in packaging.

Raw material deliveries of board, film and resin arrive in pallets, rolls and kilograms against purchase orders. Pack size and unit variances between what was ordered and what arrived are easy to miss.

Common questions in packaging.

Can Weeva match orders described by dimensions?

Yes. Descriptions such as box sizes, wall types and film gauges are matched against your catalogue, and each customer's way of writing them is learned from corrections. Where two SKUs are close, Weeva flags the line with a shortlist for a person to confirm once.

What if an order quantity breaks a pack multiple?

Weeva checks every quantity against the pack defined in your catalogue. A quantity that fits is converted to packs or bundles; one that does not divide evenly is flagged for your team rather than rounded, so you decide whether to round up or query the customer.

Can it apply contract prices?

Each customer's prices are applied from their own price list, which can hold contract pricing. Orders that arrive without prices are priced from it, and a printed price that differs from the list is flagged for review, never overwritten. The contract reference the customer quotes stays on the order for finance.

Does it work for raw material receiving?

Yes. With Goods Receiving Automation, the receiver photographs the supplier's delivery note for board, film or resin, Weeva matches it to the purchase order, and pack size and unit of measure variances, such as rolls against kilograms, are named before the GRV posts, so the supplier invoice is checked against what arrived.
