Goods receipt
What is goods receipt?
A goods receipt is the ERP transaction that records the arrival of goods against a purchase order, increasing stock and updating the order's history. It is SAP's name for the document South African businesses call a GRV (goods received voucher) and many others call a GRN.
In SAP S/4HANA it is posted against the purchase order; SAP Business One calls it a Goods Receipt PO. NetSuite's equivalent is the item receipt. Whatever the name, it is the record of what was accepted into stock.
Why it matters
The goods receipt is the middle document of the three-way match. Finance compares the supplier invoice against it, so a goods receipt that is late or wrong either holds up payment or lets an incorrect invoice through.
How Weeva handles it
Goods Receiving Automation creates the goods receipt in SAP, or the equivalent document in your ERP, from a photo of the delivery note. It finds the purchase order, compares every line and posts only after the receiver confirms.
