GLOSSARY

GRV (goods received voucher)

What is GRV (goods received voucher)?

GRV stands for goods received voucher. It is the South African term for the document that records what was actually received against a purchase order. Elsewhere the same document is a goods received note (GRN) or, in SAP, a goods receipt.

A GRV lists the supplier, the purchase order, the delivery note reference and each line accepted, with its quantity, unit and cost. Posting it increases stock in the ERP, updates the purchase order and creates the record the supplier invoice is matched against.

Why it matters

Until the GRV is posted, goods can be on the shelf while the ERP says they are not. A late or inaccurate GRV leaves stock wrong, purchase orders open and supplier invoices waiting, because the three-way match has nothing reliable to compare against.

How Weeva handles it

Goods Receiving Automation reads the delivery note from a photo taken at the bay, finds the purchase order and names each discrepancy. It creates the GRV in your ERP when the receiver confirms. The photo travels with the GRV, and partial receipts leave the balance open.
