Three-way match

What is three-way match?

A three-way match is the check that a supplier invoice agrees with both the purchase order and the goods received record before the invoice is paid. The three documents are the purchase order (what was ordered), the GRV, GRN or goods receipt (what arrived), and the supplier invoice (what is being charged).

When product, quantity and price agree, the invoice is approved. When they differ, someone decides whether to pay, query or ask for a credit. It protects against paying for goods not received or at prices not agreed.

Why it matters

The purchase order and invoice usually reach the ERP on time. The goods received record is the weak link, because it depends on a paper delivery note captured by hand. When it is late or inaccurate, the match stalls or lets errors through.

How Weeva handles it

Goods Receiving Automation makes the middle document reliable: the GRV is created at the bay from a photo of the delivery note, with discrepancies already named. Matching the supplier invoice against the purchase order and GRV is scoped per engagement.

Goods Receiving AutomationDelivery notes photographed at the bay, matched to the PO, posted as a GRV.
