Purchase order

What is purchase order?

A purchase order (PO) is the document a buyer sends to a supplier to order goods, stating the products, quantities, prices and delivery terms it is committing to. For the supplier, an incoming purchase order is the source of a sales order.

For the buyer, the same purchase order is what goods are received against when they arrive, and what the supplier's invoice is checked against before payment. A purchase order stays open until everything ordered has been received or the order is closed.

Why it matters

The purchase order sits at both ends of order automation. On the sell side, customers send purchase orders in every format, and each has to become a sales order. On the buy side, each delivery has to be matched to the right open purchase order before a GRV (GRN elsewhere) can be posted.

How Weeva handles it

Sales Order Automation turns your customers' purchase orders, in any format, into sales orders in your ERP. On the buy side, Goods Receiving Automation finds the open purchase order a delivery belongs to, by number or by supplier and lines, and compares it line by line.

Sales Order AutomationCustomer orders in any format, posted to your ERP as clean sales orders.

See Weeva on your own orders.

Pick a time that suits you. Bring three sample orders, including one your team finds awkward, and we'll run them through extraction and catalogue matching live. No obligation.
